Ingredients

For HEVONEN products, we only use tested, GMO-free, high-quality raw materials, and we always check the quality of our products made only on the bio production line before sale. Our main principle: Informing customers about the composition and contents of the products. Honesty and trustworthiness come first. We believe that only optimized, high-quality feed mixtures contribute to the health of our horses, which is why HEVONEN products undergo continuous development, following the latest research in the industry. The vitamin and mineral content of each product is optimized, which meets the needs of most horses and reduces the need to feed extra vitamins. Innovation and tradition in one place, this is HEVONEN.

Fibre

HEVONEN attributes a central role to the fibre content, which is especially important in the composition of the products. Horses use bacteria in their colon to digest fibre. These bacteria ferment the fibre in the colon, producing volatile fatty acids in the process. These volatile fatty acids are then used as energy in the horses' body. This process takes longer, therefore, the energy is provided by the fibres is a slow release energy. Fibre should form the basis of every horse's diet, and the most economical way is through forage or fresh pasture. Alternative sources such as oat bran and wheat bran provide additional digestible fibre in feeds. Some fibre sources, such as alfalfa (Lucerne), beet pulp and soybean hulls, are rich in super fibres such as pectin and hemicellulose, which are easier to digest and provide higher energy levels than cellulose, which is most commonly found in forage.

Protein

In addition to fibre, quality protein is what makes HEVONEN feeds stand out. For us, quality is just as important as quantity, and we ensure that only the highest quality protein sources are added to our blends. Protein consists of amino acids, some of which the horse can produce from its food, and others it must take into its diet, the so-called essential amino acids. These include lysine and methionine, which are so important to supplement feed with them. For example, there is an increase in demand for horses involved in breeding and performance, although this can always vary individually. The higher the ratio of essential amino acids that a protein source provides, the better quality it turns out to be. Protein is the building block of all body tissues, including muscles, tendons, ligaments, and hooves. In the case of feeding at the recommended level, the protein we provide promotes a pronounced "topline" and toned muscles.

Fat (oil)

Oils are fats that are liquid at room temperature. Vegetable oils are a useful source of energy for the horse, as they provide 2.25 times more energy than the same amount of cereals.

The energy provided by the oil (due to digestion and metabolism) is slow-release and does not have a "heating" effect, so it does not increase agitated/nervous behaviour. Some ingredients are rich in fat, while some recipes may include pure oils.

Carbohydrates

These include starch, which is found in cereals and consists of chains of glucose molecules. Glucose is a simple sugar and is used by every cell in the body as a source of energy. Horses digest starches and sugars quickly to release immediately available, quick-release energy.

HEVONEN has minimized starchy grains to make the mixtures as digestible as possible for the horse. This increases the chance that it will be digested and absorbed in the gastrointestinal tract, where it is most optimal, and reduces the risk of unprocessed starch entering the colon, which can cause problems. We only use processed, NOT straight grains in our mixtures.

Vitamins and minerals

These (premix) are added to HEVONEN feeds along with other ingredients to ensure balance – carefully designed to ensure that the horse receives all the vitamins and minerals it needs when the feed is fed at the recommended level. The minerals in chelated form are added to feed for performance and breeding to support the growing nutritional needs of horses.

Chelation is one a process that binds minerals to other molecules, such as proteins or simple sugars, and helps the body absorb and use them more easily. Many vitamins and minerals act as antioxidants, protecting body cells from free radicals that arise from metabolism and natural bodily processes. HEVONEN feeds contain these antioxidant vitamins and minerals at levels that support health and well-being, as well as performance - so in most cases horses do not need additional supplementation in addition to feeding HEVONEN feeds

Herbs

HEVONEN adds carefully selected herbs to the mixtures, which most effectively support the health of horses. We support drug-free use and use completely natural materials that do not harm the horses' bodies on the long term. A positive doping test before or after a competition is not only a disaster for the coach or competitor, but also for the sport and any company whose products contain banned substances!

HEVONEN does NOT contain the following prohibited substances that also occur in nature: caffeine, theobromine, theophylline, morphine (opium poppy), hyoscine (Datura), hordenine (germinating barley), atropine, cannabinoids (hemp fibre)
